• Dar es Salaam Charity Goat RacesThe 13th Annual Goat Races will be held on The Green on Kenyatta Drive, Msasani Peninsula, on Saturday 1st June 2013. Gates open at 12 noon & close at 5.30pm. Tickets cost 5,000 Tsh and will be on sale at the gate. Join us for a family fun day out, and if you’re really game come in fancy dress!

Just One Goat Can Make A Difference

Welcome to the 13th Annual Dar es Salaam Charity Goat Races 2013.

Brought to Tanzania by Paul Joynson-Hicks from Uganda in 2001, who would have thought that a herd of goats running around a track in Dar es Salaam would be heading steadfastly in the direction of raising a billion Tanzanian Shillings for local organisations and grass roots charities. The Goat Races is a fun family event, attracting crowds of more than 3,000 people from all over Dar es Salaam and elsewhere. Many take part in the fancy dress competitions and enjoy the range of food and drinks available, as well as placing a bet or two in the races. And the range of games and activities in the dedicated kids area keep the hordes of children who come each year fully amused. However, in all the fun, it’s important to remember that the Goat Races’ ultimate purpose is to raise money to support small Tanzanian organisations and charities and, at it’s heart, that’s what it’s really all about. Come and join us, have fun, and help us to make it count. Remember just one goat really can make a difference!
